Our Origins
ROOTED IN THE STREETS, DRIVEN BY THE CULTURE.
IT STARTED WITH THE BREAK
"Xóm" means neighborhood—it's the "hood," the closest and most convenient place for everyone to come together and session.
Xóm Cypher is a non-profit project operating within the Vietnamese Hip Hop community, starting from the foundation of Breaking. The idea behind Xóm is simple: utilize existing playgrounds, gather people through regular practice sessions, events, and fair battles. From consistent training, sharpening skills, and finding artistic fulfillment, this leads to stepping onto larger stages and opening up new opportunities.
To keep the project sustainable and accessible, we fix our operational costs at an ultra-low rate—just 1.5 million VND per event (24 events/year per location; this cost excludes media and team building expenses). This continuous chain of activities is designed to attract anyone who loves Breaking and Hip Hop in general to practice consistently, creating a safe launching pad to test new skills before stepping out into larger arenas. Winners at Xóm will be supported to enter major competitions as invited guests, or received assistance with accommodation, travel costs, and essential daily practice services.
At Xóm Cypher, everyone always has a healthy, "green," and safe space to listen to music, practice, connect, and express their true selves—staying far away from social evils and negative habits.
